How can I keep my wedding plans realistic?

First thing first, know your exact budget.  No need to work outside your means. Knowing your exact budget will help you save a lot of money and a lot of heartache.

What are hidden cost in the budget?

Hidden cost could range from cost of your favors, wedding programs, wedding dress, groom's tux, marriage license, gifts to parents and wedding party, hair and make up.  These are items not always seen in the budget, but are apart of the overall budget.

How can I save on the venue cost?

Consider having your Wedding on a Friday or Sunday or during the morning hours to save on cost.

How can I include my bridesmaids in my planning?

It’s a great idea to gather up your bridesmaid’s months before the wedding date. There are many ways for your bridesmaids to help in the planning process, which also helps relieve stress off of you. They can help plan and organize the Bridal Shower, assemble and mail your invitations and even help with confirming RSVP to the wedding by phone calls and emails.  Also, they can help with the assembly of your favors and/or centerpiece DIY projects.

What can we give as favors?

There is so much you can do with wedding favors. You can keep it simple and make them yourself, or you can order them. Another creative way is making favors a part of your wedding reception decorations and place settings. Use imprinted mugs, champagne flutes, wine glasses, or chocolate/candy as gifts.  You can give an engraved picture frame and/or engagement picture.  These are great keepsakes for your guests to take home.  There are also, several online websites with Wedding Favor ideas that can assist you.

How can I relieve wedding planning stress?

Planning a day trip for you and your future spouse is a wonderful way to relieve wedding planning stress.  It doesn’t have to be something extravagant nor an overnight trip.  It’s just a simple plan that takes the two of you away for a few hours. Schedule an hour at the spa for rest and relaxation.

How can we make gift registry easier?

Wedding registry can be an annoyance for some people, and just another stressor to top the list.  Now days many companies have online registry that helps both the Bride and Groom, and their guest.  Macys, Bed Bath and Beyond, Crate and Barrel, and Target are a few of the popular ones Brides and Grooms use.

When should I order my Wedding Dress?

You should order your dress  5-6 months in advance.  Your Bridesmaids dresses should be ordered  3-4 months in advance.  You will have at least 3 fittings upon your dress arrival.

What should I bring to my wedding for emergencies?

On your big day anything can happen, the best way to deal with it is by being as prepared as possible.  A few items that you may want to include are: hand lotion, curling iron, tissues, hairdryer, cotton balls, a brush and comb, make up, hairspray, make up remover, bobby pins/barrettes, a grooming set, tooth brush, toothpaste, floss, hand towel, lint brush, deodorant, perfume, clear nail polish, safety pins and a sewing kit, iron, club soda, aspirin, mints, and of course a first aid kit.

What is the difference between the terms, Wedding Planner, Wedding Consultant, and Wedding Coordinator?

    • Wedding planning is the actual picking and choosing of  Ceremony and Reception site, Caterer, DJ, Florists, Invitations, etc.  A Wedding Planner is someone who plans the wedding and can coordinate the wedding as well.  A Wedding Planner gets involved in the wedding from the early stages of planning until the completion of the wedding, whereas a Wedding Coordinator is hired by a couple just to make sure everything runs smoothly on the day.
    • A Wedding Consultant is essentially the same as a Wedding Planner.  Other names you might hear are Bridal Consultant or Event Planner, but they all come back to the same thing, someone to help you plan your wedding or event and possibly coordinate. When looking at the companies that have these titles, just make sure you are comparing service to service, not just the title.
    • Wedding coordination is having a wedding coordinator physically attend your wedding activities, including the rehearsal, to make sure everything is going as you had planned.Wedding coordinators take care of all the big and small details, such as, making sure the vendors are doing what they are paid to do, flowers are fresh, the right photo is taken, the bridal party is announced, wedding participants are in place, and most of importantly, that everyone is happy; including the bride.  Most Wedding Coordinators do offer planning services, but may only be needed to coordinate the day of only for Brides who are planning their own wedding.

What to look for in a Wedding Planner?

Looking for a Wedding Planner is a very important task, this is the person that is going to help you make your dream a reality, so here are a few things to look for when you look to hire your Wedding Planner: Extremely good interpersonal skills and the ability to listen and understand exactly what the couple wants from their wedding day.  Someone that has great organization skills to be able to coordinate and plan the wedding effectively.  Good at negotiating good deals with suppliers.  Financially savvy in keeping track of the budget to help make sure that the wedding costs are kept within the specified budget.
